HIT: Thorn Hill Winery officially opens today. The beautiful venue is another feather in the county”s cap.

MISS: Two men from out of the area who were armed, in possession of prescription drugs not belonging to either of them, were arrested on Thursday on charges stemming from an illegal marijuana grow site. The men were allegedly dumping human waste into a waterway near their RV. The men allegedly told officials they were growing in Lake County and transporting to the Los Angeles and Orange County area.

HIT: A new design center at Mendo Mill in Lakeport was celebrated on Thursday night.

HIT: The Clear Lake Trowel and Trellis garden clubs contributed a variety of beautification projects in Lake County: during Senior Adult Respite in Clearlake and Lucerne, at the Ely Stage Stop historic museum, the Summer of Peace dedication in Lakeport, the Middletown library and Habitat for Humanity homes.

HIT: Lake County Community Co-op opened its sales to the public. Customers do not have to be Lake Co-op members to purchase.

HIT: The Southshore Senior Boys baseball team advanced to the Northern California State Championship in Benicia after a pair of victories last weekend in Chico.

Karate kids

HIT: Nearly a dozen students from Lake County Martial Arts earned high finishes during the Golden State Karate Association tournament Saturday in Sutter Creek.
