The Lake County Medical Marijuana board has disintegrated under the pressure of the marijuana growers. They tried to do a good deed with their interim urgency ordinance.
Depending on how much land you live on, you could grow from six to 48 plants. The thanks they received were near riots at Lake County public forums.
Did they really think the big growers would be in compliance and happy with this interim ordinance?
Land that has been sitting idle in Lake County suddenly has cash buyers. This is a 21st century gold rush. Gold has been found in Lake County. How will we deal with this? We Have limited resources. We do not receive the income from marijuana that we receive from the wine industry. They cannot pay taxes.
The Internal Revenue Service would report them to the federal authorities. In the meantime the growers make all this money tax-free.
What is going to happen at the end of August when the 45 day interim urgency ordinance runs out? There will be thousands of fat plants ready to harvest. A fortune in green gold.
The Board of Supervisors is damned if they do ? and damned if they don”t. They are caught in a double-bind. Will they run like the Medical Marijuana board ran? Stay tuned Lake County. How will this cliffhanger turn out?
