CLEARLAKE OAKS — Lake County Theatre Company presents its opening performance of “Congress, You”re Fired!,” 7 p.m. Friday at the Moose Lodge in Clearlake Oaks.
According to director Suna Flores, the performance will offer Lake County theatergoers a unique experience. “Where else can you get the debut of a full-length musical comedy and contribute to an excellent community cause at the same time?” Flores said, adding that all proceeds will go to Meals-On-Wheels programs in Lake County.
“This production is not a political statement,” Flores said. “It”s a spoof of our U.S. Congress and the way they do things or don”t do things. It”s a way to let off steam at the process and have a good time without having to take sides and it is a tribute to the Summer of Peace.”
Performances include a dinner show at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. The cost is $10 to $12 and tickets can be purchased at the door or at the ticket outlets below.
For the following weekend, “Congress” will travel to the Lakeport Senior Activity Center for another three shows. Again, showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday, a 5:30 p.m. dinner show on Saturday and a 2 p.m. Sunday matinee.
