PG & E recently announced that there would likely be a rate increase to help pay for all of the newly discovered and much-needed repairs along its pipelines, which should have been located and taken care of years ago as a matter of prudent business policy, as well as public safety.
All residents of Section 8 housing, who are usually the least able among us to afford budget increases, have already received a rate increase.
HUD subsidized housing had its subsidies cut across the board by utilities and had to pass along the amount of the cut to each of the residents. It is my understanding it amounts to an average of $30 per month.
Each of these residents will also any rate increase based on usage of the unit, that is, if such an increase is approved. All the while I see television messages about everyone”s new best friends at PG & E and all the company is doing for the public these days.
There should be a moratorium on all of their pay raises, year-end bonuses and stock dividends for everyone connected with PG & E until the repairs are madeand approved by the Public Utilities Commission, people whose skirts are far from clean during this controversial situation.
