COW MOUNTAIN — A fire that started Saturday afternoon in Mendocino County near Cow Mountain and burned 385 acres to date is now 95-percent contained, CAL FIRE reported Monday morning.
Full containment is expected later Monday, according to CAL FIRE.
The incident started at 1:26 p.m. Saturday off Mill Creek Road near Cow Mountain, southeast of Ukiah.
Smoke from the blaze was visible in Lake County.
No structures were threatened and one injury was reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A Bureau of Land Management recreation area closure remains in effect. Roads were reopened Sunday evening.
A total of 518 fire personnel, 44 engines, 27 crews, two dozers and three water tenders responded to the incident thus far.
Agencies assisting CAL FIRE include the Mendocino County Sheriff Office, California Highway Patrol, California Department of Correction and Rehabilitation, Ukiah Valley Fire Protection District, Ukiah City Fire, Little Lake Fire Protection District, Redwood Valley Fire Protection District, Long Valley Fire Protection District, Hopland Fire District and Ukiah Ambulance Service.
