In recent news we learned that the state park system “found” more than $50 million for which they had not accounted.
Prior to this discovery the state threatened to close a number of state parks because of budget shortfalls.
Now we learn that the state has also “found” more than $3 billion in special funds that it also failed to account.
To meet current budget shortfalls the governor and legislature has placed initiatives on the November ballot to raise taxes, and revenue for the state.
The question needs to be asked: “If the state is so bad at managing the money it already receives then why should we tax ourselves to give them more?”
Maybe California needs some sort of citizen elected panels to manage the tax money that funds the state.
Oops! I forgot. We have a Senate and Assembly to do just that. Maybe we need to change some players in November.
