LAKEPORT — With the deadline almost a week away, one Lakeport City Council candidate filed nomination papers while three other residents had taken out but not returned the paperwork as of Thursday afternoon.

Councilman Bob Rumfelt submitted his papers on Monday, according to City Clerk Janel Chapman.

Councilwoman Suzanne Lyons, businessman Kenneth Parlet and former Lakeport Planning Commissioner Marc Spillman picked up nominations papers but have not filed, Chapman said.

There are three seats up for election in November. Councilman Roy Parmentier indicated he would not seek another term.

Candidates have until Aug. 10 at 5 p.m. to file nomination papers. In order to run, a person must be a city resident who is registered to vote.

Contact Chapman at 263-5615, ext. 12 or jchapman@cityoflakeport.com to receive further information or to schedule an appointment to pick up and go over the nomination packet.
