LAKEPORT — A judge Monday postponed pretrial proceedings in the case against Alejandro Aurelio Arias, the Kelseyville man accused of causing a fatal crash after speeding through a red light nearly three years ago.
Judge Arthur H. Mann, presiding in Department 1 at the Lake County Courthouse, said both sides agreed to reschedule settlement and trial-readiness conferences for Aug. 20 at 1:30 p.m.
The Oct. 24 trial date remains in place.
The prosecution alleges Arias drove through the intersection of highways 29 and 175 in Lakeport at about 100 mph on Sept. 11, 2009, crashed into another car and killed its driver. Charlane Hill, 41, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arias, 31, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, gross vehicular manslaughter and two counts of reckless driving causing injury.
He remains in custody at the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility.
