Thank you to the person at the Record-Bee for the emails Sunday night when the fire was so out of control and I was so afraid to leave.
I would also like to send word of thanks and appreciation to the personnel who took it upon themselves to risk their lives to save our homes and community.
Although some homes are gone, including the house we called The Turrets on the left side of 20 after you turn from Highway 53, we should all be very thankful we have been able to return to our homes and resume our daily lives.
It will be years before the natural beauty of our area returns to what it was.
Nature seems to heal itself after these wildfires and return with new flourish because all of the dead, dying and insect infested trees and underbrush have been removed and new life springs from the ashes.
I look forward to the first few rains when the plant life reinvents itself and the green comes out of the black and ash covered hills, but feel fortunate that I can still have the few vegetable plants and trees I kept on my small lot.
Thank you again for the support and appreciate all of the fire crews, phone company workers, and the utility employees who are out there braving the high temperature and smoke filled air to give us the simple, every day luxuries of air conditioning, Internet and hopefully soon, telephone service, but most of all, the homes that we were able to return to.
