LAKE COUNTY — Crews are closer to containing the Wye Fire burning near Highway 20.

The blaze, which scorched almost 8,000 acres since Sunday afternoon, is 80 percent contained, CAL FIRE reported Thursday morning.

Three injuries were reported to date. Two structures and one outbuilding were destroyed and two other structures were damaged.

All evacuation orders are lifted.

Highway 20 is open but officials are enforcing strict speed limits through the fire area. Hunting is restricted 10 miles north and south of Highway 20 between highways 16 and 53 because of fire conditions and firefighter safety.

The Wye Fire consists of two separate fires being managed as a single incident. One started near the “Y” intersection of highways 20 and 53 east of Clearlake Oaks. The other began near Highway 20 east of Walker Ridge Road.

Both broke out minutes apart Sunday afternoon. The causes remain under investigation.
