The country is engaged in a presidential election, but more attention is being paid to personalities, gaffes, statements taken out of context, statements and condemnations based on what people want to believe rather than what can be proven. The present campaign is being called the “dirtiest ever” and might be.

Personally, I think the decision by the U.S. Supreme Court is largely to blame because you don”t have to think as rationally when you have lots of funding available, unlike when you have less funding.

Right now the country has two candidates jabbing away at one another, but saying nothing about what the country might be like if either were elected.

Both think that deficits are undesirable as is the massive national debt. Jobs are needed, but neither has a plan that has a chance to get through Congress. Both know that big items such as Medicare, the tax system, Social Security and the massive defense program need extreme revamping.

They also know that the majority of Americans don”t believe in denying health care and sustenance to those who need it, but cannot afford it; tax fairness in terms of ability to pay; adequate levels of spending for an education for our kids that will enable them to compete with the world; and they would rather use public funds for employment rather than unemployment.

I would hope that either or both candidates have the moral courage to explain to the voters what they suggest to solve the problems that they spend far too much time bitching about.

Simple things like deficit reduction without revenue increases, maintaining infrastructure without maintenance, jobs without creating demand ? yeah, simple things like that!
