LAKE PILLSBURY — Crews contained the Sanhedrin fire, which burned along the line separating Lake and Mendocino counties near Lake Pillsbury, in about 12 hours on Monday.
The fire was found at 12:26 a.m. Monday and scorched 6.8 acres before being fully contained about noon, according to Mendocino National Forest spokeswoman Tamara Schmidt.
The U.S. Forest Service and CAL FIRE responded to the incident, which started on private land within the Mendocino National Forest designated protection area near Ericson Ridge, Schmidt said. The cause remains under investigation.
Firefighters attacked the blaze from the air and on the ground, she added. No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.
