UPDATED:

About a month or so ago I wrote a letter to the editor documenting the inefficiency of the Veterans Administration (VA).

In that letter I discussed how incredibly long it takes our VA to process claims for injuries after one”s military service.

My claim was for hearing loss and tinnitus after serving our proud country in Vietnam.

I received a letter from the VA several days ago.

It seems they would like to know why I am requesting VA to provide me hearing assistance.

As I mentioned I completed a claim more than a year ago that also documented in detail why I was submitting my claim.

This recent letter tells me they either lost my original claim or they are just putting me on “hold” for as long as they can.

The recent letter also stated that if I did not provide sufficient documentation within 30 days they would deny my request.

Recently I watched a news story of an Army veteran, who served in the Iraq war, who submitted his claim more than seven years ago for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, etc.

Every time the VA sent him a letter they would deny his claim.

If this Army vet is having trouble with his claim, that pretty much tells me what chance I have with mine.

I have only had my hearing damaged from Marine Corps recruit training and active combat in Vietnam. This Army vet cannot work, function as a human being, etc.

As I stated in my last letter, I just cannot believe our VA treats its vets with such disregard and disrespect.

I have a challenge for those seeking to be our next President of the United States.

Forget about disrupting the Social Security and Medicare systems. Simply go after our VA and fix a terribly broken and dysfunctional system.

If they did they would be doing this country a fantastic service.

This is my opinion. What is yours?
