The local Red Cross honors the Toney family for their dedicated service to the community, and assures them that we were not trying to take credit for any work that was not our own.
The American Red Cross role in the Wye Fire (as in most disasters) was to provide a safe place for people to stay, eat, drink, and ensure their medical needs were met as they began to regain their lives. As part of our response, Red Cross maintained communication with the Moose Lodge throughout the fire to make sure their needs were met through in-kind donations such as water and paper goods.
It takes an entire community to respond to disasters, and we are so grateful that everyone pulled together to lessen the impact of this terrible fire.
Our local Red Cross chapter and volunteers thank so many partners in the response to the Wye Fire – all the dedicated firefighters, sheriff and other County personnel, police, Sutter Lakeside Hospital, Savings Bank of Mendocino County, Friedman”s Home Improvement, Walmart, Safeway, Home Depot, Grocery Outlet, Firehouse Pizza, Community and Disaster Response Team, any others we may have omitted (for which we apologize in advance) and people like the Toney family.
Together, we can save and rebuild lives.
