LAKEPORT — City police received information that subjects similar to those who allegedly tried to lure a teenager and a woman on Monday approached two teenage girls Tuesday morning and started “an odd conversation,” according to a department spokesman. The incident Tuesday, which occurred about 10:15 a.m. in the 300 block of North Main Street, appeared suspicious but “nothing in the conversation was luring or inappropriate,” Lakeport Police Sgt. Dale Stoebe stated.

A vehicle similar to the one seen Monday was involved on Tuesday, the sergeant added.

A 20-year-old woman told police that two men in a white SUV, possibly a Ford Explorer, approached her Monday afternoon near Second and Park streets and offered her money if she got into the vehicle, according to the Lakeport Police Department (LPD).

A 17-year-old girl reported that a male passenger in a white SUV tried to lure her in the Westamerica Bank parking lot on South Main Street about 25 minutes later, according to the LPD.

Police believe the two Monday incidents were related. The woman and teenager reportedly described similar suspects.

The woman said the passenger was a heavy set “older white male” with gray hair, a beard, red face and white T-shirt while the driver was an “older white male” with gray hair, a white T-shirt, ball cap and glasses, according to the LPD.

The teenager said the passenger was a white man, 50 to 60 years old, with white/gray hair near the top of his ears coupled with gray/white facial hair while the driver was a white man, 50 to 60 years old, with short gray/white hair and possibly reading glasses, the LPD stated.
