FORT BRAGG — Roy Perkins is returning to Fort Bragg High School and has been hired as the new varsity football head coach.
Perkins, a longtime assistant coach under Jack Moyer, who retired following the 2010 season, takes over a program that went 5-5 last season under first-year coach Kevin Costello, who unexpectedly resigned earlier this week.
Perkins served as head coach at Pierce High School in Arbuckle from 2005-2009, posting a 21-31 record.
A Fort Bragg High graduate, Perkins was recently hired as a teacher in the district. He brings with him 30 years of coaching experience.
Perkins” hiring was announced Tuesday afternoon in a press release issued by Fort Bragg Unified School District Superintendent Donald F. Armstrong, Ed.D.
