LAKE COUNTY — Teachers all over Konocti Unified School District (KUSD) are getting ready for Monday, the first day of the 2012-2013 school year.
The custodians at each school site worked very hard this summer getting all the rooms cleaned and ready for the new year. Now it is up to the teachers, members of the KEA (Konocti Educators” Association), to finish getting their rooms ready by putting-up new bulletin boards, organizing their materials, arranging desks and making an interesting environment for their new students.
Sage Dreyer, age 11, said, “It”s amazing to me how hard the teachers are working to put their rooms together so their new students can have fun.”
Most teachers have spent parts of their summer vacation reading new teaching information, talking to other KEA members and getting lessons together for the first day of school.
Adrianna Illia, age 12, said, “I think it”s really cool how the teachers work so hard for us. They spend a lot of time putting their rooms together.”
KEA members are already thinking about the important standards the children need to master in their grade level and preparing a schedule to fit in all this essential learning in one short year. They are busy organizing materials for day one and the entire school year.
These educators are waiting for Monday to meet the group of students and parents with whom they will share this adventure. This is a cooperative experience that wouldn”t be possible without an excited group of children ready to learn and grow.
