CLEAR LAKE STATE PARK — A late night fire on Wednesday destroyed two maintenance buildings and damaged a vehicle at Clear Lake State Park.
A possible brush fire at the park was first reported about 11:25 p.m., according to Kelseyville Fire Protection District (KFPD) Capt. Jim Dowdy.
While KFPD units were en route, Dowdy said a maintenance worker reported it was a maintenance building used for storage. Dowdy said one building was fully involved upon arrival and another building was partially involved.
He said both buildings were destroyed and the heat from the fire damaged a nearby maintenance vehicle. The fire was extinguished within 30 minutes.
Dowdy said units remained on scene for approximately two hours for mop-up. He said the cause of the fire is under investigation, though it did not appear to be suspicious.
KFPD sent two engines, a medic and a chief. Lakeport Fire Protection District sent one engine and a chief. CAL FIRE sent a full wildland response, but units were reduced to one engine while en route.
