LAKE COUNTY — A Lakeport man died late Wednesday night after sustaining major trauma when the motorcycle he was riding crashed.
Bruce Knoles, 50, was riding his 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle Wednesday about 5 p.m. heading eastbound on Butts Canyon Road at an unknown speed, according to Officer Kory Reynolds, Public Information Officer for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Clear Lake Area.
Knoles was negotiating a left-hand curve when, for unknown reasons, he exited the north shoulder of the road and was ejected from the motorcycle, according to Reynolds.
Knoles struck a milepost marker and wooden fence and was unresponsive at the scene, Reynolds said. He was flown by REACH air ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
Reynolds said Knoles was pronounced dead at the hospital about 11:55 p.m. Wednesday. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and drugs and alcohol were not suspected as factors in the crash, according to Reynolds.
The crash is under investigation by CHP Officer Mark Crutcher.
