MIDDLETOWN – Outscored 5-1 in the first half, the Middletown Mustangs fell 9-2 to the Calistoga Wildcats in a non-league varsity boys” soccer game Wednesday afternoon in Middletown.

Brandon Rannells scored in the first half for the Mustangs (0-1) but left the game later in the same half after receiving a red card.

“We had to play a man down after that,” Middletown coach Chuck Rannells said of the loss of his son. “That didn”t help us, that”s for sure.”

Jesus Garcia scored in the second half for Middletown.

“I”ve got a very young team, but we are fast,” Rannells said of the 2012 Mustangs.

Middletown doesn”t play again until Sept. 7 at Geyserville.
