KELSEYVILLE — One man was arrested and marijuana and cash were seized during the Aug. 9 service of a search warrant by the Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) Narcotics Task Force.
On Aug. 9, narcotics detectives received information from a detective with the Chesterfield County Sheriff”s Office in Virginia regarding a marijuana sales case, according to LCSO Public Information Officer Sgt. Steve Brooks.
The investigation led to the seizure of three pounds of processed marijuana, which was reportedly shipped by George Kevin Rhodes, 48, of Kelseyville through the U.S. Postal Service, according to Brooks.
Narcotics detectives secured a search warrant for the person and home of Rhodes on Gaddy Lane in Kelseyville, which was served Aug. 9 about 7:30 p.m. Brooks said when detectives entered the home, Rhodes and his wife, Becky Lynn Rhodes, 45, were detained without incident.
Detectives reportedly located 38 marijuana plants, which were all approximately 7 feet tall and growing outdoors, according to Brooks. Detectives reportedly located processed marijuana, digital scales, U.S. priority mail packaging materials and $6,500 in cash, Brooks said. The money was allegedly wrapped in aluminum foil, vacuum-sealed and hidden in a briefcase.
Rhodes was arrested on charges of cultivation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale. He was transported to the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility and booked.
Brooks said Becky Lynn Rhodes will also be charged, but was not arrested at the time because of a pre-existing medical condition.
