Excuse me while I babble, but Guff made me do it.
There is not one President since 1976 who has not increased the National Debt. That was what I found on a Google search.
Even President Clinton with his balanced budget added $1.5 trillion to the national Debt.
I have rounded the figures and I think President Reagan added $1.7 trillion, President George W. Bush added $5 trillion and President Obama has added $5 trillion in four years.
I think when Reagan left office unemployment was 5.4 percent. “I recently saw an interview with Mr. Laffer and he said that Reagan learned from his mistakes and knew how to change course.
Reagan surrounded himself with some of the best minds of the time.
Obama has surrounded himself with philosophy people, who are inept at best, to solve problems.
Not to mention all of the time he has spent golfing, fundraising and speech-making, while meeting with his cabinet and jobs council only once this last year.
I think Clinton said it best, “President Obama doesn”t know how to fix the economy,” and I don”t believe President Obama knows how to change course. (*Clinton retracted that statement immediately, as a misunderstood statement). I think Obama sent a $3.8 trillion budget to the Senate and it was voted down 99-0.
Obama claims he has created more jobs than Bush or Reagan. That is pure bovine excrement.
I understood that Reagan created more jobs, with 92 months of unparalleled prosperity, than any other President in history.
And most all of the Republicans Governors, after taking over after Democratic Governors, have turned their states economy around and balanced their budgets.
As for the infrastructure, states have diverted gas taxes to the general fund to support social programs instead of fixing roads, just like our Federal Government that robbed the Social Security Fund (estimated $3 trillion) to fund its social programs.
Just wait until the bubble bursts and we truly find out where all the money went. And the bubble will burst!
But the plain and simple truth is if you spend more money than you make, you”re bankrupt.
Most people in the financial industry point the finger for the housing bust at Senator Chris Dodd and Barney Franks.
Their laws, economic policy and their behind the scene antics to make banks lend money to people who could not pay it back, led to this disaster.
As for the political ads, it will be the worst campaign anyone has ever seen.
Like I want dirty air and water, just because I am conservative.
All I”m trying to point out is if you elect a good Republican like President Ronald Reagan, you would have a good economy.
Guff, I love your insight. But you have to look at the bigger picture.
Oh, by the way I heard you live less than 2,000 feet out your back door from me.
Would love to have a cup of coffee and a spirited debate.
Come over and savor some of my fresh veggies … Yes, this is a different era, but it is still about how to create jobs.
Just like every recession.
I”m like Randy Ridgel. I am a conservative enjoying retired life, (my wife made me take out the part about a bitter old Democrat) and now that I”ve spent four hours on the computer researching facts, I think I”ll take two aspirin and have nap.
