COBB — Big happenings are taking place on the mountain. A historic resort once owned by Beatles” spiritual leader Mahareshi is not only re-opening, but also starring on television.
Hoberg”s Club Resort progress will be chronicled on “Extreme Resort Makeover,” a reality television program.
Taping of the reconstruction features crews of contractors and laborers redeveloping the property to its former look of the mid-1900s.
The resort was originally built in the late 1800s and was one of the largest private resorts in the state until it was sold by the Hoberg”s to the Mahareshi, in the 1970s. It was transformed into a transcendental meditation center for more than 40 years until its sale to the current owners.
Cobb Mountain Days will serve as a soft opening with shows in Hoberg”s Music Hall taking place Sept. 14 through 16. Featured performances by Tommy Castro and The Painkillers, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood and a Jimmy Buffett cover band highlight the event.

On Sept. 22 Tempest will perform bringing high-energy folk-rock to the mountain.
Hoberg”s Club Resort is located on Highway 175 and Entrance Road on Cobb. Hoberg”s will be open to the public.
