LAKEPORT — The Lake County Theatre Company will present “The Cemetery Club,” a comedy by Ivan Menchell, at the end of September.

Performances take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 21, 2 and 7 p.m. Sept. 22, 7 p.m. Sept. 28, 2 and 7 p.m. Sept. 29 at the Lakeport Senior Activity Center, located at 527 Konocti Ave.

A dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. on opening night.

This production is a benefit for Meals-On-Wheels. The play is directed by Marg Brooks and produced by Cindy Strong.

“The Cemetery Club” focuses on three Jewish women who have been friends for many years. Their husbands have all died, so they meet every month to have tea together and go to the cemetery to clean up their husbands” cemetery plots.

Cindy Strong plays Lucille, a sexy woman ready to take on life, men and new adventures. Kathy O”Connell plays Ida, the practical one who tries to keep peace between the other two women. Kathleen Escude plays Doris, a woman who is less enthusiastic about life and lets the other two know it.

Doug Burns as Sam the Butcher brings a bit of romance to the story and Michele Chapman plays Mildred, whom Brooks describes as “a complete surprise.”

Tickets for the dinner show cost $20. General seating tickets will be available for people who only want to see the play. The cost to attend performances is $12.

Tickets are available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at the Lakeport Senior Activity Center, 263-4218, The Salon at High Street Village, 1847 N. High St. in Lakeport, 413-7250; and Main Street Pizza, 145 N. Main St. in Lakeport, 263-0777.
