Now that the Record-Bee has published two different statements from two candidates running for Lakeport City Council, the difference between these two candidates is quite obvious.
Bob Rumfelt listed few accomplishments, one of which wasn”t even truthful.
He claims that one of the accomplishments he was most proud of during his time as a councilman was keeping the Westshore Pool open.
For the seven years that I have been following the issues surrounding Westshore Pool, Mr. Rumfelt has shown a clear and steady record of his opposition to the pool.
In many city council meetings over the years, I witnessed Mr. Rumfelt advising that the pool should be closed and that Measure I funds should not be spent on the pool.
On the other hand, Suzanne Lyons has shown a solid commitment to the pool.
She has taken the time to speak to community members about the pool, is oftentimes seen at fundraisers that support the pool and has consistently voted in favor of keeping it open to the public.
Yet Ms. Lyons didn”t mention this support in the Record-Bee summary.
She listed many other accomplishments that she has achieved during her time as a city council member.
If Suzanne Lyons can accomplish so much in only three years, then it would be to Lakeport”s advantage to vote her in for another four years.
Mr. Rumfelt has served as a city council member for 16 years and feels the need to site an “accomplishment” that he didn”t even fulfill.
This is an obvious ploy to gain votes.
