I watched with great interest these evening speeches by the Democratic Mayor of San Antonio Texas, Castro and of course First Lady Michelle Obama.
As most of you know I am a Republican, but I consider myself an American first.
I do not see Republicans as the “white hat guys” and the Democrats as wearing black hats. Metaphorically speaking, we all are wearing varying shades of gray.
I came away recognizing that both parties see the same problems facing not only our country, but the world. As for the economic malaise we are experiencing, one party sees government as the solution whereas the other sees a combined effort by government and the private sector.
I believe the Democratic Party relies too heavily on government which I believe, as an unintended consequence, becomes a crutch for some.
The Republicans see government as a helping hand to self-sufficiency. I see a lot of common ground, but now it depends who can be the most effective leader.
