COLUSA COUNTY — A pair of fires that broke out Tuesday afternoon burned 3,200 acres off Highway 16 thus far.
The fires, which are four miles apart south of Highway 20 in the Rumsey Canyon area of Colusa County, were 10 percent contained Wednesday morning, according to CAL FIRE.
The incident, dubbed the “16 Complex” fire, started at 3:49 p.m. Tuesday. The cause remains under investigation.
A total of 627 fire personnel were on scene Wednesday morning. Crews are battling the blazes from the air and on the ground.
An evacuation warning is in effect for the Cortina Rancheria area.
Highway 16 is closed from the Highway 20 junction in Colusa County to 7.1 miles east of the Colusa-Yolo county line at Manzanita Avenue. Drivers are advised to use other routes.
