LAKEPORT — A judge Friday delayed the preliminary hearing for a Lakeport man charged with attempted murder and four other felonies for an incident in the city in June. Authorities allege Raymond Richard Casillas opened fire several times during a fight near Central Park Avenue and Shady Oak Street on June 22. He reportedly escaped police custody during the investigation that night but was found in Windsor the next day. Casillas, 22, pleaded not guilty to the felonies. The case was set for preliminary hearing next week, but the defense asked for a continuance. Judge Stephen O. Hedstrom granted the request, which was unopposed, Friday morning at the Lake County Courthouse. Casillas will appear in court Oct. 2 to schedule the preliminary hearing. The court will at that time also review his bail, which is set at $450,000. Dana Rochelle Hueners, 22, who faces a felony for allegedly helping Casillas escape custody, will also appear in court on Oct. 2. She denies any wrongdoing.
