LAKEPORT — A man charged in connection with a triple-fatal car crash appeared in court Tuesday through his attorney.

Michael James Wright, 50, of Hidden Valley Lake faces five misdemeanors stemming from a January triple-fatal car crash near Twin Lakes.

The Lake County District Attorney”s Office filed a complaint against Wright on Aug. 10 charging him with the misdemeanors.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported Wright was driving northbound on Highway 29 on Jan. 14 and lost control of his BMW sedan, which skidded into the opposite lane and struck a Ford SUV.

The complaint charged Wright with three misdemeanor counts of gross vehicular manslaughter for the deaths of his passengers: Kari Lynn Marks, 53, Jena Marie Marks, 24, and Patrick Earl Campbell, 27.

Two misdemeanor counts of reckless driving causing specific injury related to Steven and Lezley Beyer, the people in the Ford SUV.

Wright”s attorney, Stephen Brown, appeared on behalf of Wright and informed him of the charges.

Wright”s arraignment and plea was continued to Sept. 25 at 8:15 a.m. in Department 3, according to John Langan, senior deputy district attorney. Langan said he was informed the case would resolve itself on that day.
