HEALDSBURG — Clear Lake finished 1-2 in pool play before advancing to the championship game of the silver bracket Saturday during the Healdsburg Volleyball Tournament at Healdsburg High School.
The Cardinals rallied to beat Bret Harte High School of Angels Camp 21-25, 25-18, 15-12 in the silver bracket semifinals before falling to St. Helena 25-11, 25-15 in the silver bracket championship match. In the win over Bret Harte, the Cardinals rallied from a 10-1 deficit in the deciding third game.
“Probably the best game we”ve played this season,” Clear Lake coach Marci Psalmonds said.
Earlier in pool play, the Cardinals lost to Healdsburg 25-22, 25-14 and Scotts Valley 25-20, 25-19 before beating Lower Lake 25-15, 25-19.
Aliza Atkins recorded a tournament-best 17 kills for the Cardinals and Anna Westin was right behind her with 16. Setter Morgan Psalmonds had 47 assists and 32 digs, and Haley Garzoli had 37 digs.
“She played great on defense,” Psalmonds said of Garzoli.
Clear Lake hosts Rincon Valley Christian tonight in a non-league match. The Cardinals also host Upper Lake on Thursday.
