NORTH LAKEPORT — A fire that broke out along Scotts Valley Road Tuesday afternoon was contained in less than one hour.

The fire was first reported about 1:30 p.m. About four or five acres burned along Scotts Valley Road near the Glen Eden Trail Head, which is the border between the Lakeport and Northshore fire protection districts.

CAL FIRE Battalion Chief Linda Green said quick action from Lake County fire districts and air support from CAL FIRE helicopters helped to contain the blaze in about 45 minutes.

Green said the helicopters were briefly diverted from the Scotts Fire incident and that crews battling the larger blaze on Cow Mountain were not affected.

Green said mop-up was expected to take an additional hour and that Lake County fire district crews would be released earlier in order to respond to any other fires.

Lakeport Fire Protection District sent one engine, one water tender and a chief, and Northshore Fire Protection District sent two engines and two chiefs.

CAL FIRE sent four engines, two inmate fire crews and two helicopters. Kelseyville Fire Protection District sent one engine and a chief. The U.S. Forest Service sent one engine.

Green said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
