LAKE COUNTY — Officials expect to fully contain the Scotts Fire Friday.
The wildfire, which sparked for unknown reasons Sept. 7, held at 4,618 acres and was 95 percent contained Friday morning, according to CAL FIRE.
Containment lines were constructed and strengthened around the perimeter of the fire, which burned on North Cow Mountain between Scotts Creek and Scotts Valley Road, according to CAL FIRE.
The blaze threatened the Blue Lakes and Scotts Valley Road communities early on, but no homes or other buildings were damaged. Five undisclosed injuries were reported.
A total of 735 fire personnel were on scene Friday.
Fire suppression repair is ongoing, and county fire crews are going to patrol and monitor the fire area, according to CAL FIRE. Smoke may be visible within the perimeter during mop-up efforts.
Officials anticipate hot and dry weather conditions during the remainder of the fire season. They urge people to stay cautious during outdoor activities and while using power equipment that could spark a fire.
Mendo Rock Road Access to North Cow Mountain Road is closed at Mill Creek. The Cow Mountain Recreation Area is closed at the Scotts Creek and Mill Creek entrances. Glen Eden and Valley View trails are closed.
