UKIAH (MNG) — A Ukiah bicyclist was injured Thursday afternoon when a trailer ran over her leg, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported.

Barbara Jones, 52, of Ukiah pulled a trailer headed eastbound on Highway 253 near Stipp Lane and tried to pass two cyclists by moving her vehicle to the left to give them room, according to the CHP.

The bicyclists were riding in single file, and the first cyclist stopped, thinking the second had asked him to stop.

The second cyclist — Madeline Anderson, 21 — moved to the left and alongside the trailer, trying to avoid hitting the stopped cyclist.

Anderson then lost her balance and fell in the path of the trailer”s rear wheels, which ran over her left leg and knocked her to the ground. She was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.
