LAKEPORT — Kristy Hayes gave it all she had for the 25 minutes she played and the Clear Lake High School varsity girls” soccer team, struggling to find its offense in recent games, found eight goals worth in an 8-0 non-league victory over Rincon Valley Christian on Saturday afternoon in Lakeport.

“I thought she had a good game and she wasn”t even feeling well,” Clear Lake coach Paul Larrea said of his senior forward, who he estimated played a little more than a half against the Eagles. “But for 25 minutes she gave us two goals and an assist, which is pretty good.”

Clear Lake (6-5-2) shook things up against Rincon Valley Christian, moving five starters from its previous game to new positions.

“We moved some things around and made some changes just to try and generate more offense,” Larrea said.

It worked to the tune of 42 shots on goal — compared to just five in its last game against Cloverdale — and eight goals. Besides Kristy Hayes, Madison Wynacht, Emily Hayes, Emily Norwood, Nadine Bradley, Sarah Landum and Faith Hornby all scored. Norwood also had two assists.

“Emily Norwood played extremely well,” Larrea said. “That”s the second game in a row she”s had an assist off a corner kick (she assisted on Wynacht”s goal).”

Other standouts for Clear Lake were Kelcie Reynolds in the midfield and Nadine Bradley both on offense and defense, according to Larrea.

Clear Lake resumes its North Central League I schedule tonight in Willits. The JVs play first at 4 p.m.
