I want to address the letter that Mr. and Mrs. Kearney put in the paper regarding 4-H and FFA members. I want to thank them for their letter. I started my shy boy in 4-H more than five years ago and I have seen him blossom during those years into a fine young person.
When I started him in 4-H I had a goal to raise a strong, independent, healthy-minded, responsible, helpful young man.
I thought 4-H would be a helpful tool for me and my husband to use to guide him in that direction. It has done that and more. Often times parents get discouraged and lose sight of the mission they are truly on. Hearing others speaking so highly of our youth brings things back into perspective for our parents and our members.
As a club leader I see a lot of people losing sight of the true meaning of why they signed-up for the daunting but rewarding tasks of not only having a member in 4-H but also being a 4-H parent.
It isn”t easy and it takes a lot of time and dedication to do what these kids and parents do. I want to also let the Kearney”s know that I will be sharing their letter with the families at our next meeting.
So they may give themselves a little pat on the back to say look it”s all worth it. I must add, I relocated here from the Bay Area and I too, love living in Lake County. By the way, they hate wearing their uniforms, but they look so good.
