NICE — Volunteers setting up for the Hands Around Clear Lake healing ceremony were ordered by the Robinson Rancheria Tribal Council not to gather at Shi-Kom Village, the tribally-owned site where the event was planned.

Six event volunteers painting signs at the gathering place Wednesday afternoon were escorted off the property by a Robinson Rancheria federally-commissioned police officer with the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Robinson Rancheria representatives said Thursday night the land is private property and not in a trust. In addition some of the neighboring land that was slated for use was not owned by Robinson Rancheria, but by a private citizen who did not give permission to the organizers of the event to gather there.

Two new venues were announced for the event. The Friday night concert and tribal gathering will be held at Rainbow Ranch located at 9210 Wildcat Road near Highway 175. The sunrise ceremony will be held at Rodman Slough from 6 to 8 a.m. on Saturday and will be open to the public.
