LAKE COUNTY — Dr. Paula Dhanda is using her healing hands to raise funds for an October medical mission to Nepal to train 10 midwives.

Worldwide Healing Hands, Dhanda”s fundraising foundation for her medical missions, is participating in a challenge sponsored by Global Giving to assist in the effort.

A team of eight medical professionals will travel to Nepal in October.

Most of the medical team hails from Northern California, including Dhanda and three others from Lake County.

The nonprofit organization was approved to participate in Global Giving”s September Challenge: raise at least $4,000 from at least 50 people during the 30 days of the month.

Both thresholds — total donations plus at least 50 donors — must be met.

A nonprofit that successfully completes the challenge is eligible to receive additional funds from Global Giving”s fundraising efforts.

Worldwide Healing Hands thus far has raised $2,176 from 42 donors during the September Challenge.

Global Giving is a nonprofit organization that works with corporate and individual donors to raise funds for other nonprofits.
