I read on Sept. 19, that the Lake County Board of Supervisors is continuing its discussions and research into charging MediaCom customers a fee to have channel 8, our local TV channel, available to us.
Please consider that I began with MediaCom a few years ago paying $60 per month for cable TV and Internet services.
This year my same services cost has risen to $120-plus for the very same services. Mediacom ups its fees on a regular basis.
I object to an additional fee added onto MediaCom billing for our “educational” local channel and I am requesting that the BOS view Channel 8 everyday and evening for a month before they make a decision.
You should know what you are voting for in its entirety. As a senior living on Social Security which is considered to be at or below poverty level, I”m poor.
It is so important that the BOS realize that cable TV is for many seniors, our main mode of entertainment, especially since many of us can no longer drive.
I feel that MediaCom already holds seniors hostage with constant fee raising. We cannot afford another fee. Surely there is a better way to fund Channel 8. How about charging those subscribing to Channel 8?
