LAKE COUNTY — Lake County Sheriff”s Office (LCSO) narcotics detectives partnered with the Calistoga Police Department Monday to arrest two people and seize 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine and $977 cash.

The Narcotics Task Force developed information Sunday that 1 pound of methamphetamine was going to be delivered and sold the following day in Middletown, according to LCSO Public Information Officer Sgt. Steve Brooks.

Additional information developed Monday that the delivery and sale of the methamphetamine was changed to take place in Calistoga and that the quantity to be delivered was increased to 1.5 pounds, Brooks stated.

The Narcotics Task Force was assisted by Calistoga Police at 4 p.m. Monday in locating and detaining Carlos Moreno Guzman, 29, and Alma Nava, 34, both of Santa Rosa.

Brooks stated Guzman was standing next to a 2005 Acura sedan while Nava sat in the passenger seat of the vehicle, which was located in the parking lot of a Calistoga restaurant.

Calistoga Police deployed a drug-certified K9, which alerted to the interior of the vehicle, according to Brooks.

A search of the vehicle revealed about 1.5 pounds of crystal “ice” methamphetamine and $977, according to Brooks. The money was seized pending asset forfeiture.

The methamphetamine was allegedly concealed inside the packaging of a men”s underwear box and had an estimated street value of $68,000, Brooks stated.

Guzman was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance for sale, transportation of a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit a crime. Nava was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Brooks stated both were transported and booked into the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility and are currently in custody with immigration holds.
