LAKEPORT — A small brush fire at Big Valley Rancheria near Konocti Vista Casino quickly moved into thick tinder and scorched seven acres Thursday evening.
The blaze began at 5:45 p.m. Smoke billowed high into the air and spread across Clear Lake.
The blaze caused a small spot fire to ignite in a field across Mission Rancheria Road, according to Lakeport Fire Protection District (LFPD) chief Ken Wells.
It was contained by 7 p.m. Wells said fire crews remained on scene until 9 p.m. for mop-up.
Two engines from LFPD responded. CAL FIRE and Northshore Fire Protection District also sent two engines to the scene. Kelseyville Fire Protection District sent one engine.
Wells said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
