Nobody likes taxes. Especially retired people on fixed incomes. I am semi-retired and work part-time from home. But one-quarter of 1-percent is only a penny on every $4 spent to try to improve the economy and quality of life in Lake County by cleaning up the lake.
That is a pretty small sacrifice to ask that could make a huge difference. There are several fixes that could be tried, but they all take money. Restore the wetlands. Great, but it will take money. Harvest the algae and produce bio-fuel. Great, but it will require investment.
Use environmentally-safe chemical treatment on the algae. Great, but again, it takes money. Any kind of progress will require investment.
I haven”t lived here long but I am amazed that such a beautiful area is not visited more by the millions of people living in California. The only reason is the appearance and smell of the ironically named Clear Lake.
Come on, let”s have some vision!
