LOWER LAKE — Officials closed four Konocti Unified School District schools Thursday after an early-morning car crash caused downed power lines in Lower Lake.
The schools will be in session today, according to Rob Young of the Lake County Office of Education.
Lower Lake Elementary School, Lower Lake High School, W.C. Carle High School and Richard H. Lewis School for Independent Study were closed all day Thursday, Young said. The other Konocti District schools were open.
The crash occurred just before 3 a.m. Thursday when a Land Rover driven by Matthew Brew, 29, of Los Angeles went off Lake Street and struck a utility pole, California Highway Patrol Officer Kory Reynolds stated.
Brew, who sustained minor injuries to his head, chest and hands, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, Reynolds added.
Approximately 2,100 customers lost power as a result of the crash, according to PG&E representative Brittany McKannay. Crews restored power to everyone in the area by 2:15 p.m. Thursday.
