LAKEPORT — Seaplanes arrived Friday for the 33rd annual Clear Lake Splash-In, which runs through Sunday in Lakeport.
About 24 seaplanes registered for the event, with the furthest coming from Phoenix. The event is headquartered at Skylark Shores Resort and utilizes the field at the old Natural High School located nearby for on-shore seaplane parking and display.
The event is organized by the West Coast Seaplane Pilots Association and is the largest seaplane gathering in the Western U.S. Contests such as water bombing and spot landing will allow pilots to showcase their planes and flying skills.
The event is open to the public. Admission is $2, with children 10 and younger admitted for free. Food, drink and merchandise booths will be available.
The Lakeport Main Street Association and Lake County Chamber of Commerce are the main sponsors. One pilot also contributed a large amount for the event.
