CLEARLAKE OAKS — The Red and White Store was the place to be on Saturday for California Super Lotto players.
A winning ticket worth $14 million was purchased sometime last week at the store, according to store manager Erin Ferguson.
The winner, who has yet to be identified, will claim their prize today at 1:30 p.m. during a live news conference at the State Lotto Sacramento District headquarters.
A second winning ticket was purchased at a super market in the Bay Area city of Milpitas, so the $28 million jackpot will be split. That winner has not yet claimed their prize.
Ferguson said this was the first winning ticket sold in Lake or Mendocino counties.
The State Lottery awarded the store with 0.5 percent of the jackpot, which totals $70,000.
She said owner, Gary Nylander, had plans for the money, but nothing definite as of yet.
Ferguson said State Lottery representatives visited the store, located at 15280 Highway 20 in Clearlake Oaks, and took photos.
“It”s always good for business,” she said. “We hope it brings customers in. It”s definitely a big deal.”
