Statistical leaders
Rushing — Upper Lake”s Ward Beecher carried the ball only four times but still gained 165 yards with three touchdowns in a 66-8 rout of St. Elizabeth. Clear Lake”s Vince Rave gained 144 yards on 14 carries with two TDs in a 21-8 win over Lower Lake. Austin Benson”s 134 yards on 21 carries led Middletown in a 42-21 loss to St. Helena.
Passing — Upper Lake”s Travis Coleman went 3-for-4 for 48 yards and a TD. Kelseyville”s Jacob Martinek was 5-for-7 for 60 yards in a 24-8 loss to Fort Bragg.
Receiving — Upper Lake”s Joey Valdez had two catches for 37 yards and a TD.
Highlights
Special teams — Upper Lake allowed its fifth kickoff return for a TD in the last three weeks. Middletown”s Tyler Drew went 3-for-3 on extra points against St. Helena.
Defense — Joey Valdez and Augie Duarte each had two sacks for Upper Lake against St. Elizabeth. Valdez leads the county with six. Middletown”s Wyatt Hall had a fumble recovery and a sack against St. Helena.
Streaks — Upper Lake has won four in a row and now has the county”s best record at 5-2. St. Elizabeth has now dropped 27 straight.
110 points — Ward Beecher”s point total through seven games at Upper Lake. He added 24 more on Saturday with three rushing TDs and three two-point conversions.
Definitely star players — St. Helena senior quarterback Richard Hoppe passed for four TDs and ran for two more against Middletown. Fort Bragg junior running back/outside linebacker Zach Smith rushed for 126 yards and a TD and returned an interception 25 yards for another score against Kelseyville. His skill as a punt returner also hurt the Knights.
Bass Bowl III countdown — 10 days and counting. Who will emerge victorious in the rubber match between the two teams. Will it be Clear Lake or Kelseyville?

Career day — Brad Beckwith ran for all three of Middletown”s TDs against St. Helena.
JV update — While the Clear Lake JVs lost their shutout streak, they improved to 7-0 with a 36-12 win over Lower Lake.
One penalty — The first half of the Kelseyville-Fort Bragg game Friday saw only one accepted penalty for one yard (offsides on a conversion play).
