As an Upper Lake alum I see these weekly blowouts and I”m thinking I should be overjoyed for my Alma Mater.

We are on the verge of making the playoffs for the third straight year and we”re doing it with mind blowing offensive statistics. What”s not to get excited about? The Cougars are steam rolling their league competition after a few tough non-league losses. Even the Record-Bee writes “Cougars Win Laugher 66-8.” With victories piling up, blowouts every weekend, and playoff fever in the air, what more could an UL alum want?

Glad I asked.

How about a varsity coaching staff that coaches, instills confidence, and gives experience to their second string while winning, instead of berating, individualizing and calling single players out for their mistakes and lack of game experience.

How about a varsity coaching staff that actually prepares a second string to come into a blowout to gain valuable experience instead of leaving certain kids standing on the sideline and bringing up sophomores. How about a varsity coaching staff that doesn”t use senior starters on the kickoff team in a 66 point blowout? How about a varsity coaching staff that doesn”t force kids off the team who have committed their time and energy only to have their high school football experience spoiled for lack of coaching, teaching and mentoring?

I”m impressed with all the Cougar players who give it their all, I”m rooting for all the kids to play, have fun, win and do their best. Win or lose I”m proud of those who wear the red and white, just not their current (for lack of a better term) coaches.
