LOWER LAKE — Crews are battling a wildfire Thursday afternoon along Highway 29 near A Street between Lower Lake and Hidden Valley Lake.
The fire broke out about 2:50 p.m. and grew to 50 acres two hours later, according to CAL FIRE.
Mandatory evacuations are in place for Murphy Springs Road. Voluntary evacuations are set for Joseph Trail and Candy Lane in the Twin Lakes community. Evacuees are staging in the Jonas Oil parking lot on Highway 29 north of the fire area.
Highway 29 is closed from Spruce Grove Road North to Spruce Grove Road South. Caltrans said there was no estimated time the highway would reopen.
Power lines are reportedly down in the area.
