Oct. 27:

* Barbara White will demonstrate “Proper Dressing for Victorian Women,” 2 p.m. at Lakeport Library, 1425 N. High St. White will don the multiple layers of a “day dress” while explaining the life and world of a proper middle-class Victorian woman in 1862. * KPFZ 88.1 FM presents its Harvest Moon costume party, 7 to 11 p.m. at Rancho De La Fuente, located at 2290 Soda Bay Road in Lakeport. Cost to attend is $15 general and $12 for members of KPFZ. * Open mic takes place at 8:30 p.m. on the last Saturday of the month in Harbin Restaurant at Harbin Hot Springs outside Middletown. Although the event is free, Harbin gate entrance and membership fees apply. For more information, visit www.harbin.org.

Oct. 28:

* Soper-Reese Community Theatre and KPFZ 88.1 FM co-present “Lake County Live!,” a live radio variety program that takes place at 6 p.m. on the last Sunday of the month. The program is staged at the theater before a live audience. Admission costs $5. The show is modeled after “A Prairie Home Companion,” with live local music, comedy, skits and surprises. Listeners are invited to come out to the theater or tune in via the radio or online via kpfz.org.

* Writer”s group meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month at the Main Street Gallery, 325 N. Main St. in Lakeport.
