LAKEPORT — The Robby Alan Beasley double-murder trial has its jury.

Twelve regular jurors and seven alternatives were selected Thursday morning, defense counsel Stephen Carter said.

Jury selection occurred on four days during the course of the past two weeks. Opening statements are set for Nov. 7.

Beasley, 32, of Clearlake faces a pair of murder charges and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting deaths of Maine residents Frank Maddox, 32 and Yvette Maddox, 40.

Their bodies were found at the bottom of a Lower Lake embankment in March 2010, more than a month after authorities allege Beasley shot them.

Beasley denies wrongdoing, pleading not guilty to the three felonies.

The prosecution claims Beasley, a former Maine resident, recruited the couple to assist in a Lake County marijuana operation in 2009 but later suspected they stole marijuana from him in January 2010.

The two sides estimated arguments and testimony during Beasley”s trial would span four to six weeks. Lake County jury trials are typically in session Wednesday through Friday.

Elijah Bae McKay, an alleged accomplice charged as a co-defendant, is not standing trial because his case is on a separate track. He has not yet had a preliminary hearing.
