I could not be more pleased with the results of the Lakeport city council race.
As a city, we united to say that if our government representatives do not hear our voices and honor our wishes, we will not re-elect them.
We reclaimed our power. We have proven that a government of the people, by the people and for the people still is possible — at least on a local level.
We have elected three young men who will bring new energy to city government, and city council meetings promise to be great entertainment — especially if our pre-election candidate forum was any precursor of the future.
I plan to attend more city council meetings in the coming year, and I encourage you all to join me.
Democracy works best when we all participate.
Thank you to those of you who voted for me. Even though I didn”t win a seat on the council, I feel like all of us are winners.
